COMING 2009

Our quest is to seek the unique, unusual and vibrant voices of our time, voices whose form and content render the common moment in newest light; work designed to suspend the reader in the moment of word, thought and expression: moments of weightlessness, dimensions that open by a writer writing and a reader reading

THE BOOK

The Orange Blossom Express is autobiographical fiction in its most vivid incarnation: Evangeline returns to her Southern California town of Redlands, California to weave fragments of memory with fiction to build an intriguing story of two women coming of age in 1969. The bizarre and edgy realities of life in the Age of Aquarius are tempered with narrative fiction that brings Evangeline's story into raw focus.

This is a story of the smuggler's world survived from a woman's point-of-view, a curious space between a time of vivid adventure-ala-1969 that grew through the sheer will and determination of an extraordinary woman into the power and strength of extraordinary survival.

Take a ride on The Orange Blossom Express — via 1969 —a time when reality's stiff borders slipped into absurdity's edgier, more tenuous terrain.

Nominated for the Pushcart Press Editor's Award under another title, Carapace Books is proud to make this our premier publication.
